Hey Everyone!
To celebrate their 3rd Birthday, I have teamed up with Zalando to blog about how my style has evolved since I was just three years old.
During my 26 years on this planet, my style has been ALL over the shop to say the least. I'm the type of person who will bump into an old friend and be told 'Oh my god I can't believe it's you!', 'You look SOOOO different' or 'It's crazy how much you've changed!'. It's been really fun putting together this blog post as I've been able to look back at my style and remember certain times in my life, old friends and memories etc. How nostalgic! It's
crazy how your style is influenced by so many different things like
what music you're into, the people you hang out with and even what stage
you're at in life. I think that I've only really found my true style within the past 4 or 5 years so if you're still looking for yours, just carry on doing your thing. Amongst the highs and fashion faux pas lows (of which I've had many), you'll have fun experimenting and looking back in years to come!
To show you all just how much my style has evolved over the years, I've put together a little timeline. Some of the pics are rather offensive to an aspiring stylist such as myself, but I'm blaming being a 90's kid! Please don't laugh at me too much...enjoy...
So I started off as an innocent little cherub in pigtails and t-bar shoes with an obvious love for the colour pink. A few images in I spy some acid wash jeans? Well done Mum, how very stylish! Most of my youngest years I appear to be rocking some colourful numbers and casual outfits with pumps. 80's baby much?
Into my pre-teens and it's a combination of school-girl chic and a bit more denim. The obligatory knee-high socks rolled down at age 9 should also be noted. Anyone else remember this being a thing?! Into my early teens which I'll call the chav years. For some hideous reason I was harbouring a love for all things sportswear (Kappa popper trousers were a must). I'm going to hazard a guess that I thought I was Mel C from the Spice Girls. After this I think I was trying a bit too hard to be more girly hence the clashing pastels, slick ponytails and a prom dress that Barbie would be proud of.
After I left school something big happened. It was good girl gone bad all the way and I began chanelling my inner goth girl. Who did I think I was, Amy Lee?! I wished. In my late teens I started toning it down a bit and tried the 'Indie Cindy' look with a blunt fringe and one hell of a MySpace pose to boot. Kate Nash was clearly my fashion idol.
Into my Twenties and I feel I began to find more of a 'style'. It was around this time that I'd lost a lot of weight and was beginning to feel a lot more comfortable in my own skin. It took a few years (and more than a few crazy/mismatched outfits) until it became clear the kind of style I was going for. At the ripe old age of 26, I'm a lover of grungy, rocky styles with a bit of 70s/80s thrown in the mix. I still have a love for anything a bit goffic but I feel I'm able to nail the trend in a more grown-up way now!
So that's it, what do you think of my style timeline? Please send me a link to your style evolution posts too as I'd love to see them!
Amy x
